Sportsmen Scuttlebutt

November, 2006

Here is a picture of a Big Sturgeon that Carol hooked on Nov 4, 2006 during the 
annual Sportsmen fishing derby. It took 6 of us, Carol, Ted, Tim, Neal, Charlie 
and myself to get it next to Neal's boat so we could release it. We fought it for 2 hrs.

The fish was about 8 ft long and weight over 200 lbs.   John

October, 2006

Ed & Arline Collins celebrated their 50th anniversary aboard the Sausalito on October 21, 2006. Many family members & friends attended. Thanks to daughter Deanna for setting up this wonderful "surprise" party.

On July 23, 2006, Dr. Dan celebrated his 50th birthday with family & friends at Sportsmen. Sherry organized a wonderful party complete with great food and entertainment.

 The theme for the evening was "funny or favorite hats" and there were lots of them. Great job Sherry!

2005

 

 

Jim Dawson's first place winning striper in the 2005 Bethel Island Striped Bass Derby 
was 44.5 lbs, 49 inches. He also got second place with a 37.9 lbs 45 inch wopper.

July 8, 2005

 

 Many members of Sportsmen Yacht Club attended the Friends of the NRA dinner held on June 18, 2005 at Humphrey's Restaurant in Antioch. Doug Horton, Chairman of the local chapter of Friends of the NRA, proudly presented Sportsmen Yacht Club with a plaque in appreciation of their participation and support.
